SASAGIN (03-5454-3715; see story) in Yoyogi-Uehara has excellent food and great sake at prices that bring you back. Open 5pm to 11:30pm, on Saturday from 5pm to 11pm. Closed Sunday and Holidays.

AKAONI
(03-3410-9918) in Sangenjaya has huge sake selection, always with new stuff coming in. Awesome sashimi. Open 5:30pm to 11:30pm. Closed Sundays and Holidays. Relatively expensive. Address Sangenjaya 2-15-3.
MUSHU (03-3255-1108) in Awajicho has a funky interior, a very interesting food menu, and a wide range of unique sake. Open 5pm to 11:30pm. Closed Sunday and Holidays. Moderate Prices. Address Awajicho 1-1-1.
SAKANATEI
(03-3780-1313) in Shibuya is a small, cozy and popular place. Make reservations. Large selection of sake. Food is creative and fresh and displayed in bowls on the counter. Open 5:30pm to 11pm. Closed Sunday. Moderate Prices.

JAPONTEI
(03-3263-3642) in Kojimachi (above Exit 3) has a stylish modern Japanese interior. Wonderful, creative food, and wide selection of sake. Young crowd. Open 6pm-2am. Lunch 11:30am to 3:30pm. Closed Sat Sun and Holidays. Expensive. Address 3-4 Kojimachi.
KONAKARA (03-5394-2340) near JR Otsuka Station is bit out of the way and a bit quiet, but the food, sake and beer are outstanding. Small shop run by a young husband and wife team.
Fresh, seasonal dishes. Open 6pm to 11:30pm. Closed Wednesday. Moderate Prices. Address 1-14-7 Kita Otsuka.
SHUNJU (03-3770-0019) in Shibuya is a large place, divided into several areas with distinct

TARUICHI (03-3208-9772) in Kabukicho specializes in whale and great sake, with nice izakaya atmosphere and fair prices. Open 5pm
